The Trails at Tannehill is located on Eastern Valley Road, near Tannehill Ironworks
Historical State Park in McCalla. The Trails at Tannehill, a partner of Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park, offers visitors a chance to get up close with its stabled horses and take a ride at the 700 acre site which includes a recently acquired pasture. For $25 per person and hour, visitors can come by the stables at Tannehill and take a guided horseback ride on the weekends. In addition to guided tours, horseback riding lessons are offered. Kids can enjoy pony rides guided by a walker as well. Joey West who is the manager at the Trails says “Weʼre excited ʻForever Wildʼ the states land preservation program has been finalized and that this will be the first time in 30 years people can saddle up and ride inside Tannehill Park on specific dates. Campgrounds are now available for visitors to bring their own horses. The Trails has a pavilion that can be rented for birthday/pony parties, weddings and picnics. West also says the main purpose of the trails is to offer something for people to do outside, there are too many things that people do inside with TV and video games, so we really stress getting out and doing something to create memories.”
